One of the largest financial intermediaries, Western Union, is preparing to integrate cryptocurrency payments into its services.
Yesterday, the president of the global money transfer company, Odilon Almeida, said that among all companies planning to provide cryptocurrency services, Western Union will be able to do this in the best possible way thanks to its experience.
Almeida noted that while cryptocurrencies are experiencing many problems associated with volatility, regulation and management, due to the young technology. However, according to the president, Western Union will be able to help assets in all three areas.
“Western Union today can master any currency. We are already working with 130 currencies. If one day we decide that the integration of cryptocurrency on our platform is the right strategic and technological solution, it will be just another asset. ”
Almeida confirmed that the company is conducting appropriate process tests, including in partnership with Ripple Labs. Back in July, Western Union filed an application for a patent to the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The statement received the heading “Duplicate Remittance Notifications and Secure Transfers”, and it pays special attention to cryptocurrency payments.
